Air Jacket for Extruder Barrel

  • Application:
Typically, any extruder will initially require heat (in form of heating elements) to start the melt process. Once the process is on temperature, the extrusion may generate excessive heat as a result of friction etc.
During this time, cooling is required and this is facilitated by mounting an air jacket/ fan assembly. The assembly is positioned around the extruder barrel and normally includes the heating elements for start-up.
  • Challenges:
The challenge is to optimise the fan and air jacket assembly to match process requirements.
  • Solution:
Air jacket consisting predominantly of a sheet metal welded construction together with a radial fan assembly.
