Skills Development at Thermon SA: Welding Application & Practice

Continuous Improvements & Upskilling at Thermon SA

Thermon SA recognises the importance of education and training in our challenging socio economic environment. We are acutely aware of our responsibility to train our staff in order to ensure a high quality product as well as professional service to our clients.

Our products require a variety of skill sets starting from electrical principles to sheetmetal work and as such include welding techniques as well as some fitting.

We have thus embarked on a training program with an outside training company to enhance the skill sets of our production team.

During this program they are exposed to health & safety at the workplace, sheetmetal forming, welding technology, marking as well as material knowledge.

The outcome of the course will be an SQF level certification for ‘Welding application and practice’.
The course is a mix of theory and practical training. On the practical side they will be given smaller projects to complete (such as designing & welding a 'scoop' as shown above).

We can already see the effects of the training at the workplace. Trainees are approaching their work in a more responsible and quality conscious attitude.

We are proud to say that thus far all the trainees have passed their curriculum which is facilitated by an outside service provider ‘Training Force’ with MERSETA approval.

Congratulations to all & keep up the good work!

Regards,
Ulf Hitzeroth
